I was there in 1992. It's a small podunk town. I stood on the corner and sang the song much to the chagrin of old cowboy locals. Some old bearded man told me to, "go back East". I said I was on my way and my friends and I got in the car and drove back out to I-40.

when the eagles wrote that song, the reason they were standing on the corner is they had just been released from the jail in winslow, and the girl who drove the flatbed ford was a local.
