We just relocated to a new city for my husband's new job. The company mailed his paycheck to our hotel (his direct deposit hasn't kicked in yet). It was supposed to be here Tuesday but it never showed up. He asked payroll at the company, they say they can't get the money to us until next week. We've gone through half our savings to move here and we really need some money. What should we do?

I think getting excited and filing wage claims or contacting the labor board are a bit extreme for this circumstance. Staying in contact with the Payroll department, and stressing the import of their maintaining the responsibility of paying in a timely manner would be my first choice. The direct deposit should take effect on the second cycle (typical).
Maybe I'm too tolerant, but I usually don't get too worked up until late checks have become the rule rather than the exception. With being new at the company, living in a hotel and all, I'm not too surprised there was a delay. Sure, it's disappointing and consternating, and certainly a concern looking forward, but hopefully the situation will go away, and congratulations on the new position and new city.

There really isn't much you can do except wait for the $$ to come in the mail. You could call the hotel and ask if anything arrived addressed to your husband

Contact the local labor board.

Where-ever you live, your company must operate under that state's laws.

Wishing you well!

I think you can contact the DA's office and file a wage claim.
