As a neutral I've got to say that they are two great teams but since the inception of the Premier League Manchester United has been by far the best club in England. Liverpool have become very ordinary and just better than average which i put down to the fact that they abandoned the 'Liverpool Way' of grooming managers from within and started bringing outsiders in. Just look at the number of managers they have had during the time Sir Alex has been at United. That can't bring stability as each time a new manager comes in he starts to buy his own players and discard those bought by previous managers. No wonder you never get a settled side at Anfield. This week was the first time in 100 games that Benitez kept the same side for two games in a row. Until Liverpool go back to their old way of running the club they will not have as much success as Manchester United.

Liverpool dominated the late 70s and 80s. Man U dominated the 90s. In terms of domestic trophies Liverpool just about edges out Man U, but in Europe Liverpool is by far better.

Quite close really, but historically it is Liverpool.

And one more thing, Liverpool has finished higher than Man U. In 2001/2002. (Pool 2nd, Man U 3rd).

Of course Man united are better than Liverpool. The scousers have had their day, are now just a mediocre team, look at the league table.

# Liverpool have never won the treble ( and never will )
# Liverpool have never won the Premier league ( and never will)
# Liverpool did not win the game in Istanbul, they got the trophy through a penalty shootout.

At the moment yes but overall no way. Man utd will always be second best to Liverpool. they are still the greatest and most successful team in Great Britain that is a fact. No more to say even a neutral will tell you who is the best.

presently they are both playing at the top of their game locally and in europe but man u definitely have an edge over them but if we are talking historically no team in england beats liverpool record as the most decorated team in england but we are close(man u).
