I don't know why but people do look at you different if you have a tatoo. I think it is because in the olden days.LOL Only the rough/criminal/bad guys had tatoos. But it has become a Fad now days. I personally think it is about how you carry yourself. If you were to walk into a business and you were to see someone with a tatoo like yours, what would you think of her? What kind of person do you think she is? If it bothers you, cover it up with make-up. You could also ask someone at your work who is high up in the corporation if it is alright.

My goodness, some people. I don't see anything wrong with showing your tattoo. After all, it's on the ankle, you're sitting at a desk all day, not many people are going to see your ankle. I have a nose stud and work in an office and even my boss thinks it looks good! Things like that are becoming more the norm now and days and more acceptable in the work place. As long as it's tasteful, I wouldn't see a problem with it. You said your co-worker has one too? Then it seems like your boss doesn't have a problem with it. I would still ask though, just to make sure. If it's OK, then you're good to go!

You would probably find the answer within your work environment. Is it really strict and stiff? If so probably not. But considering the info...yes you should be able to I think that a little butterfly tattoo or your ankle is no big deal. Now if it was a skull on your shoulder blade that would be a different story. If you are still concerned, just put a touch of cover-up matching your skin tone. You can make it look natural. Hope that helps.

Seeing as how someone in a higher position has told you that it's fine, I wouldn't worry about it as far as having it be an issue with superiors at work, however, if you're worried about your own self image and are thinking about going into that field as well and want to present yourself as well as possible in front of possible future contacts, then it's better to be safe than sorry. It's definitely not bad inside the work environment, but since you come across so many people, you never know how each of them might impact your life sometime in the future. If you do ever get sick of the boots and want to wear heels or something though, they have pretty good skin tone bandaids out that you can apply and wear your heels...also, there are very highly pigmented makeups out there like foundation that will cover up the tattoo. Might want to invest in one for those moments that you want to dress differently, but still be "appropriate".

Why don't you ask the people you work for, what they think? Speaking as a tattooed hairstylist, I personally think that you should keep it hidden. As you put it, you are the face of your company. I'm in a field, that the more self expressive the better, but in your field its defiantly more somber. You could also look into different types of Panty hoes. They make special types of hoes that are like tites. If your creative enough you might even get to wear that skirt.

The problem with polling people on Yahoo!Answers is we are not the people who employ you. The best person to answer this question would be your boss at work.
Set up a time to speak with your boss and ask him/her the same question that you just asked us. Let your boss know that you are concerned about the image that you portray as the receptionist. You can say that you are willing to keep the tat covered if they ask you to, but you were wondering what the firm's policy on visible tats is as the receptionist.
Good luck with resolving this issue at work. :)

While I have six and I work for the State on NC, one on my back , both arms, my chest, my right ankle and right foot. I have shown all mines, but now that I'm getting older I regret getting some of them and plan to have some removed. If I were you I would just revel it because you can't keep wearing boots.

Well I don't think tattoos are appropriate for an office. But honestly, if you're hot and wear the right things, if it's just a small tattoo on your ankle you can pull it off.

I don't know what type of climate you live in, but if it is cold, try wearing stockings or opaque tights to offset the tattoo. That is why it is so important to be careful where you get tattoos because oneday your living reckless and don't care, and the next you're ready to be a grown up with a real job!

Well since you work in a law firm I think it should be covered. If you really want to wear a skirt you can purchase some water/sweat proof makeup to cover it. Try Dermablend makeup. It covers everything.
