If one of my children makes any sort of sound during the night, I wake up - maybe even before they make the sound. There seems to be an invisible umbilical cord that relays any sign of distress directly to my brain. Same goes with my cat. There is no possible way I can hear my cat at the front door in the middle of the night, but I often wake up knowing she is there meowing to come inside. I dutifully get up and let her in.

Pretty much anything will wake me up from a sound sleep. I am not a sound sleeper. I would love to be able to take a pill or a potion to sleep the night through. The worst thing though is the wind. Trees blowing in the wind and scratching against the house get my attention as it howls against the windows and jolts me from a sleep.

Footsteps walking through my hallway...
I feel it the instant someone enters my room and it wakes me up every single time.
And when there's an argument in the house. That's a guaranteed wake-up call.

Yes, the hairballs do. Also my children. If they move I'm wide awake even though their rooms are down the hall.

I can be deep in sleep, even on medications, and if I hear a child say "Mommie?" I'm wide awake, and all my kids are grown and gone, but the Mommie word still wakes me up ...... fast!

Well, let's see. Lightning hit the tree in front of my house, and I didn't know it until the following morning. There isn't much that will wake me up.
