I agree 100% with you, but lets take it one step further. In libraries and community building machines like automatic teller machines could be placed and from time ballot was printed till 8 o'clock election day you could enter your voting card get paper ballot an envelope vote at your leisure put it into envelope, and with magmatic voting card deposited it to be collected and counted election night. This would end 3 hour time problem. Biggest problem would setting up system to prevent counterfeit collection boxes from being put into system, but with GPA tracking it could be overcome. Primaries could also be done this way if you were allowed to pick you party day you voted.

Want to be honest in voting, let there be a picture of each candidate and pierce a hole through it .that way there will no question about hanging chads.A poor black or Hispanics or for that matter even whites above the age of 40 are most unlikely to know how to operate computerized voting machine.I think America needs an Independent Election Commission other wise the crooked politicians will absolutely destroy American Democracy.

Because of the #1 ERASER.
The SAT screwed up last year and sent wrong results for hundreds of students and did not correct the scores until after college acceptance was over. NOT A MODEL TO STRIVE FOR.
ATM machines are secure enough - they produce a printed record and the patron can view their transaction online - something that would require electronic 'double-books' to accomplish fraud with.
They should be the model we base our voting system on.

You know,
If I were a tree hugger, I'd be deeply offended in your question.
Seriously though, not enough people know how to use these two (extremely) difficult tools of modern day communication.....
Do you have any idea how long it would take to train everone how to use a pencil and paper?
ROTF, LMAO

Where I live we use paper ballots with a scanner that counts them (use a pen, not pencil though).

no it doesn't - it works on test because the students are familiar with it and the teacher gives VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS to each student and even then answers are tossed because they are MARKED TWICE
what do you do when 10-15% of voters FAIL remember the CHADS !!!

The #2 pencil lobby is very weak. Diebold is much stronger and better funded.

I like your question...but i would have to say if people are confused about punching paper, they would be baffled by filling in a circle.
