She seems to have bought it hook, line, and sinker. It's sad to because she just got laid off from work. It would be sad if she wasted all her severance pay and time on their crap.
We aren't close friends, just former co-workers. She called me trying to get me into it. I tried to tell her what it was after I googled on Quixtar and realized it was the new Amway. She said "the internet is like a bathroom wall, people will write slanderous untrue things". What do you want to bet that line is straight from her "start-up kit".

They say that the first steps in brainwashing cult members is to tell them to ignore people outside the cult and remain positive. Yes ignore your common sense!!

Anyone have any ideas about how to get her out of this? We have a mutual friend that I may contact.

bhasquin, do you consider $800 a month to be a liveable wage!!! And are you subtracting the money that you spend each month on the seminars and products that you buy from them. Also how much time do you spend on this. What does you average hourly wage equal to. My friend imagines that she is going to be able to live off of this. She has a mortgage and a horse. $800 a month won't cut it. I think Quixstar even state in their fine print that their average IBO makes only $1400 a year!!!

Negative people is just a catch phrase of them telling you to ignore common sense. Run AWAY!!

sjtweblif... what an interesting name. Couldn't you make up one that didn't sound like you just typed random letters in to sign up so you could answer this question? This is the only question you have answered or asked on here. Interesting.....ewwww

I don't get how people could get involved in MLM and feel good about themselves.

Maybe the mutual friend can help.. If that doesn't work an yer explainin what you has found out about it doesn't work then the odds of being able to convince her to get out with her money is pretty slim.. The only thing that me can suggest to you is to NOT spend yer money irregardless of what she has to sell... But there is alot of ''get-rich quick schemes' out there. Sounds to me like yer friend is looking for one... Always remember this {{ maybe you should remind her }} If something sounds to good to be true, that's usually because it is. Which is to say they want her $$ but they is unlikely to make her rich.. And if by chance she does make alot of money at it be humble an tell her congradulations. But the odds is stacked against her. Good Luck

If she thinks she is just going to magically make a full income on this it won't be easy. I don't know anyone who didn't try Amway and ended up losing money. I'm with another company that is not to compare with them, but has some similarities without the great exspense. I would never tell someone that this could be a full income right off the bat. If she has all these bills she can't be exspecting Amway to pave the way. There are people who do well and make a decent living but in my opinion the hard way and by chasing down anyone and everyone they meet to join in. I had a friend that had a friendship destoryed by the whole Amway thing. He tried it and didn't like it and wanted out and his friend hates him for getting out. If you love the products okay then use it as a side job since your buying the stuff anyways, but don't think with an business you start that you can invest your last penny and know you can make a go of it. The mutual friend may have already been contacted by her for Amway. The first think Amway tells you is make a list of everyone you know and call them about this to get them to join. The only thing you may be able to do is wait it out and let her learn the hard way. She should at least be working a part time job on the side. Maybe just try to get her to at least do that so she doesn't end up in too much financial trouble. Any company that has a name change is running from a bad reputation. I hope you are able to help her but if not she will learn in time.

Well, Quixtar isn't a scam. Is it MLM? Yes. Is MLM a scam/scheme? No. Is Quixtar a simple business? Yes. Is it easy? No. Will your friend have to work to make enough money to live on and not get another job? Yes. Is there anything wrong with hard work? No. She will have to share the Quixtar business at least 15-20 times a month for at least 3-4 months to really see nice income unless she retails a lot to customers. Some people make great money just by retailing alone but not everyone is cut out to do only retail. Now if she does 20 meetings a month at 2 hrs each that equals 40 hrs/month that she has to work for 3-4 months. All in all 120-160 of work (less than a normal job) and she could have an income of $20-35K/year. The nice thing is the longer she works at it, the more income she makes without adding additional hours beyond 40/month. When you research the right sites that are not ran by Quixtar's competition you will get the facts and that is what matters. I hope this helps you and your friend. One suggestion for you, be supportive of your friend and don't crush their dreams.
