The west and not just the US has interfered in the Middle East since the 19th Century. The US involvement began after WW II. If the Middle east was not rich in natural gas and oil, the US would pay no heed to the Middle East. It is all about a powerful country imposing their will on other countries when they do know the language, culture or religion.

As a true indicator of what's to come, take a look at why the muslims call the US Satan... It doesn't take long to realize that by their religious standards, Americans are more debased in lifestyles than anyone.
Americans fight for the right to do whatever we feel our desires demand. This alone should be enough to make our morality look in the mirror and see that our example as super power leaves alot to be desired, in more ways than one....
