Over the summer I purchased a laptop cooler. This worked so good, the fan would stay off. About a month ago, I had a problem with my computer and brought it to my campus computer center. They said they found viruses and whatnot and fixed it. After I got it back the fan would constanly run. They deny they did anything. I hate that they are always on because I bring my laptop to class and its so noisy compared to everyone elses. The laptop is about 3 years old and it is a compaq. I tried to use air in a can but that didn't help. Do any stores (Best Buy, Staples, etc.) clean the dust out of computers? If so how much does it run? Any other suggestions? Could tech help screwed up my computer?

EDIT: Did you notice the part that said I did use a can of air?

And they didn't rip me off because I didn't pay. It was free. I doubt they switched out my fan.

I seriously doubt they did anything to make that fan louder. Most laptop fans are kinda noisy. If you have a cd in the cd rom drive, you will hear it will run constantly in most cases but it should even stop after a few minutes, but your system fan should not.
You can open that laptop your self and take an air can to clean out any dust you see. Otherwise, you can take it to best buy and let geek squad do it. One other thing you can take into consideration is get some software to monitor the heat levels on your processor and such. I would also suggest maybe even replacing the fan. It could be the case its just not cooling it at all so it just runs.

One other suggestion, and i say this because it was said to turn the system off.i normally blow the fans with a air can while the system is running, and i say this because when your blowing air with the system off, all your doing is blowing it back inside the system further. If the system is on and you blow the fans with air it will blow more out that way.
