I'm not entirely sure...
It's easy to imagine how it is because it's reality and i live it every minute of every day.
But how it ought to be? Sometimes it's awfully difficult imagining how it ought to be. It's just hard to envision life before making choices and actually living.
Things happen in unexpected ways and that's what makes it so hard to truly imagine how it ought to be.
There's no guarantee policy on life...

Hmmm... I'm not sure about that. I seem to think that most of us suffer from fear of turning "how it is" into "how it ought to be". I know I have a wild imagination... I constantly envision how things should be... but rarely do I have enough courage to step up to the plate and do something about it. In terms of personal situations, it may be a *little* easier considering I have a bit more control over things... but on a larger, more global scale... pfffffffffft... I don't feel I can do much. But I guess if everyone thought that way, well... not much would happen. I think there are many people who imagine "how it ought to be"... but only a rare breed actually follow it through with action.

The thinkers in this world have no lack of imagination and know how it ought to be and see how it really is.
Our lack of imagination comes from not having a proper choice when it comes to voting for people who know how it should be and actually do something about it.
Democracy has certainly failed us.

Well if most people do, I'm not one of them. I always think about how things "ought" to be. Instead of just thinking about it though, I like to take real steps to trying to achieve it. So I daydream about what I want and then come up with real solutions to make that a reality. I love to use my imagination. Good question.

Great way of putting it.
People are reoccupied with so many worthless things in life that the essence of their humanity is compromised. It's nice to see an intelligent question here for a change.

Yes, there are too few of us idealists remaining. The vast majority are sheep who never consider a different way for the world to operate.

oh no, it is not a lack of imagination, it is a choice not to imagine.
