Sound is perceived by your body by the vibration of
certain tissue in your ear. No vibration, no sound.

That tissue is in turn vibrated by something ... in most cases,
air compression waves. No compression waves, no sound.

In turn those compression waves are caused by something
else vibrating and pushing up against the medium that was
touching the tissue in your ear, or something touching the
medium that was touching your ear or something touching the
thing touching the thing ...

You get the idea?

There is a continuous chain of objects between the vibrating
thing and your ear, or you don't hear the sound. The objects
may be small (such as the molecules in air), but they have to
be there.

Outer space is pretty much vacuum (very few particles in it).
Certainly not enough to establish a chain of vibration from the
thing making the sound to your ear.

Sound requires a medium to travel. On earth sounds reaches our ears through mediums like air, or through liquids or solids. Sound can't travel through a vaccuum and in outter space it is a vaccuum, hence no sound :).

Sound is caused by the vibration of air particles and is propogated by these particles when they vibrate and hit against each other. However, in outer space, there is a lack of air (or any type of particles for that matter) that can cause vibrations or propogations. Thus, there can be no sound in space.

sounds are vibrations which need a path (or medium) to travel from one point (origin) to another (destination).In atmosphere the sound travels through air. In space, there is no such medium.Thus, there is no sound in outer space.

Sound waves are mechanical waves (a type of wave that need matter to travel). Since there is no matter in space, sound and other mechanical waves can't travel in outer space. Radio waves and electromagnetic waves can travel through outer space becasue they don't need matter to travel; that's how we use satellites.

Because sound waves require an atmosphere to travel in, and since there is no atmosphere in space, sound can't travel.

To drive sound you need air.
In space there is no air.
