Pythagoras Theorem. a^2=b^2+c^2

So b^2 = 58.37
c^2 = 88.55

b^2 + C^2 = 146.92
Sq Rt of 146.92 = 12.12.
So A(your diagonal line) is 12.12mtrs

The line splits the rectangle into two triangles. Each is a right triangle. To find the distance of the long side of the triangle, or the line through your rectangle.....use the A^2 + B^2 = C^2 formula for a triangle. With C^2 representing the length of the diagonal line in the rectangle, or the long side of the right triangle.

The ^ symbol means squared, where 5^2 would be 5 x 5 = 25

SO........
A^2 + B^2 = C^2
7.640^2 + 9.410^2 = C^2
58.369 + 88.548 = C^2
146.917 = C^2
Take the Square root of 146.917, to get your answer.
Which should come out to 12.121 meters.

Hope this helps.

The diagonal of a rectangle actually splits it into two identical right angled triangles (with the diagonal becoming the hypotenuse). So, in order to find this length, we apply Pythagorus' Theorem:

a^2 = b^2 + c^2 ... where a is the desired length

Thus, = 7.640^2 + 9.410^2

a^2 = 146.6125

a = 12.108

Take the measurements and follow the rule A2 + b2 = c2 Giving that A and B are the two measurments from the right angle and c is the diagonal.
So
7.640 Squared + 9.410 Squared =
58.3696 + 88.5481 = 146.9177

Find the Square route of 146.9177 which is 12.1209

So the Diagonal is 12.1209

in case you draw the diagonal you have 2 precise triangles. in case you recognize the with and the top of the rectangle you will locate the diagonal using the Pythagorean theorem a^2 + b^2= c^2, the place a=w and b=h

Pythagorean Theorum: a squared + b squared = c squared. This means that you should square the length and square the width of the rectangle. Then add them together. Then find the square root of the answer. An example:
Length=3cm
Width=5cm
3 squared=9; 5 squared=25; 9+25=34. The square root of 34=about 5.83

The diagonal is the hypotenuse of a right triangle with l w as the legs so
diagonal=√(l^2+w^2)=√(7.64^2+9.41^2)=
√(58.3696+88.5481)=12.121

the rectangle is 7.640 meters x 9.410

length of diagonal=L

L=sqrt(7.64^2+9.41^2)

= 12.12096118 m

i hope that this helps

The hypotenuse squared (diagonal line) is the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

7.64 squared + 9.41 squared = diagonal line squared

To find the length of the hypotenuse (diagonal line), do this:

a squared + b squared= c squared, which will be the length of the hypotenuse.
