Why do Cingular phone reps lie to us?

If your cell phone breaks while still in your 2 year agreement they tell u that u have to buy thier cell phone at full price. $199.00 and up. the truth is you can go to Wal mart and for $29.99 get a cingular go phone put your chip in it and it works just fine. dont ever believe a salesman

Be careful because this does NOT always work. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you do not. For example, I had a Cingular monthly plan phone and my brother had a Cingular pay as you go phone purchased from Wal mart. My phone broke and my brother didn't want his pay as you go phone because he had gotten a plan phone. I figure since he isn't using it I will buy it from him and place my chip in it, until I can afford to get a phone that I like. To make a long story short, it didn't work because the phone was locked. Alot of time phone companys will put their programing into a phone so that it can only be used only by that company's customer and only for what it was intended, prepaid, pay as you go, monthly plan etc .... This is what I mean when I said the phone was locked. They do this so that when people change from a pay as you go plan to a monthly plan or vise versa
the phone company makes more money because you are forced to get a new phone. What they don't tell you is that there are companys on the net that offer unlocking services for your phone.
It is quite cheap and shouldn't cost more than 20 dollars or so. Once you have your phone unlocked you can use it with any company and any plan. You can also buy unlocked phones from
ebay. This is the route I would take if I were considering a new phone purchase. You happened to get lucky in that you must have gotten a phone that wasn't locked from the company. So please don't misinform people about things unless you are absolutely sure. You could cost someone alot of money. Oh and by the way i am not a salesman!

probably becuase they don't check their resources like their supposed to and they don't care or know any better, i am an agent on one of the many call center companies highered in contract with nextel and i find other centers that are not responsible for technical support and wireless web concerns don't use the resources they are trained to becuase they don't realize the damage their doing, i find myself constantly cleaning up others messes from misrepresentation. also the dealers in the store make comission so they will tell you anything they want you to think is the truth to corner you into buying something from them at their store to make their comission off of you...ps those people are the worst for infomation and making mistakes....i HATE dealers also!!!

Really? DOes it still work with the same plan or is it pre paid? I brought my cell phone and renewed my agreement at walmart but i had no idea about this. thanks for the tip! What i've got discovered is the Republican occasion of immediately hate/dont have faith info, Math and genuine pollnumbers. They stay in a delusion international of their heads the place incredibly of following actuality, they might incredibly have faith what makes them experience sturdy.
