engagement is not a legally binding contract (any more) so go ahead - but wait for the decree absolute before any wedding preparations!

Getting engaged has no legal status whatsoever, so you may get engaged whenever (and as many times) as you like. Whether it's a good idea to do so while going through a divorce is another matter - and only you have enough facts to make that judgement (although there will be plenty on yahoo answers telling you what you should do - there always are)

Engagement has no legal status so no-one can stop you getting engaged before you are legally divorced. However, personally, I would recommend waiting until you are both legally free to marry again. I've been divorced 2 years, my partner only a few weeks; we'd like to get engaged but I think we'll probably leave it a while, for a "decent interval".

Yes, my husband was going through a divorce while we were engaged. However, he waited until the last minute to get the divorce finalized. If I remember right the divorce had to be finalized through the courts two weeks before we could get married. If you are planning on getting married you might want to check with your state to see if they have similar laws.

Of course it is. However what is not legal is to marry the second one before you divorce the first. Start divorce proceedings now because it takes time.
What ever you do do not get married before you are divorced.
Not like the cops will come get you but the complications your life will have you don't need.

Of course! Engagement is not a legal contract in any way. So get engaged and enjoy it! But don't make plans for the wedding til he has his Decree Absolute - anything could happen to delay it.

It's legal but also suprising.
Most people find one Divorce enough to put you off marriage for life. (I'm one of them)
If marriage vows aren't going to be kept, then whats the point in making them again??
All the same, I say good luck to you all. True love is so hard to find.

You can legally get engaged whilst still married. Only once the divorce is complete is it then legal for you to marry your fiance
