Emotions cannot be controlled.

Emotion, in its most general definition, is an intense neural mental state that arises subjectively rather than through conscious effort and evokes either a positive or negative psychological response to move an organism to action. An emotion is differentiated from a feeling.

Feelings are affective states of consciousness, triggered in biological beings by information from the physical world. In the case of humans and other complex animals, physical stimuli may be stored as memory. In this case, thoughts may be responsible for feelings, widening the gap between physical stimuli and feeling.

If you feel that your emotions affect your normal functioning, it is because of your genetic inheritage, and/or due to the environment you live in, not because you do something wrong, that triggers too strong emotions.

In order to have a normal life, and if you think that your emotions are too intense (up to the point of giving you heart attacks, panic or anxiety), you should try to ambition yourself and schedule a relaxing program, using the various techniques you can find on the internet or in speciality books.

Personally I have found the answer to this question to be yes, however only to a point. Remember you are only human and not a vulcan like Spock. You are entitled to be moody. It does take alot of work and self control, but it can be done.
Meditation is a good way to start. If you are a religious person, ask your diety for help.

Many ways...Alternately placing your hands under cold and then hot water. The ocean is very soothing. Sit in a chair and grab the arms as tight as you can and count to ten. Take a shower. Try naming capitols or countries. No time for emotions when you are thinking lol.

I think certain degree of emotion is healthy. to control it doesn't seem healthy to me in the long run. I think it is best to feel the emotions and acknowledge it, rather than feel the emotions and act on it.
