No this is not true. My husband is in prison. He is the same person there and when he was home. A person does not just "change" but may claim they changed to keep you. However people can change and make improvements in their life because they want to. I would not recommend getting married until the person is home from jail or prison to give them a "trial run".
It takes a long time for a person to get out of being institutionalized and get back into a regular routine. When that process is over then you will begin to see if they really learned from their mistakes and making progress to move forward in their life.

It's like a status thing among inmates, to have a wife, or a good lover to visit with during visiting hours, or write to, and make phone calls. Many of the guys get religion, in an attempt to get good marks for early release or parole.

How else is a guy in jail gonna keep a woman? They are probably scared every guy on the street is trying to talk to you, when they have a thing to offer you.

Very possibly because they feel that they will lose you as time away you might find yourself feeling down and not realise that you are looking for some sort of attention and then that can lead to a breakdown in relationships,as fortnightly visits are not alot of time to spend with your loved one

Because they are not free to get "around" like they used to. And they're glad to have someone to call, have visit them, put money on their account and want to keep that person available to them. The free person can play around on them if they wanted to - the men are still trying to "control".
