Sugars form polymers to form long chains, one of which is starch. Proteins function in many ways, some of which are structure and enzymes. Lipids assemble and are present in cell membranes (mainly phospholipids), as well as provide a source of storable energy. Carbohydrates are also an energy source, usually stored in the liver when in excess. Nucleic acids contribute to DNA and the different types of RNA.
