Without a doubt - Only Fools & Horses. The best written scripts, fabulous actors, and excellent delivery on the punchlines all help to make the Only Fools & Horses the No 1 sitcom of all time.

I'm with Friends on this one, and here's why...
They wrote Friends around the characters of the actors, rather than getting them to ACT in a way which is obviously unnatural as seen in other sitcoms. Admittedly, when they originally had to cast for the parts, they had to find people who fitted with the ideas they already had for the characters. And then the writing was incredibly good. Classic stuff.

Nearly everybodys answers are for pure comedy programs, such as Only Fools and Blackadder. I would have said that a sitcom, was more like Friends(which I hate) or My Family.
So I will plump for the mighty....Terry & June, just over One Foot in the grave.
Why?, great theme tune, and it's got Terry Scott in it, who is a legend. And it's just stupid . Get the theme from http://tv.cream.org

Scubs is really great!! My husband and I both enjoy it!! If ya like a little drama mixed with funny then Weeds from Showtime is awesome. Scrubs just has that very dry and goofy humor. I also enjoy Dexter from Showtime and The Underground. I think that all these shows are well worth one or two watches. Scrubs would be the only one with a language and obscenity barrier since it isn't cable.

Frasier gets my vote.
It's just the best scripted, best acted, funniest sit-coms.
I guess we all like seeing a pompous buffoon getting his come-uppance and watch him slowly deflate.
I rank Frasier higher than Fawlty Towers, which was 12 episodes of supreme quality in script, acting, and ensemble.
However, much as I love Fawlty Towers ("Flowery Twats as it was in one episode!), Frasier just has it all.
Niles Crane just has to be one of the best side-kicks in sitcom history, not to mention Martin, Roz, Daphne.
Go out, buy the DVD's, and watch how sitcoms really should be.

I love the Blackadder series, all 4, because they are still so funny even after all this time. The characters are cleverly played with obvious humour as well as clever humour and plenty of sarcasm. They are also very well researched with interesting background information about the times that the series were set in
The humour also doesn't date.

SEINFELD...Because they talk about things that we all have thought about or have experienced and they make it very funny. Probably the best sitcom ever made, in my opinion.

I have a few: Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond, Full House.
They just don't make sitcoms like they used to.....
