I am considering moving sometime in the next year and am worried that the credits I have at my current school will not transfer to the new college. I am hoping there is a way I can find out without contacting the admissions & records department of either school, rather, a fairly accurate list of which schools use which accrediting institution and who accepts classes from whom.

The safest way is to contact a counselor in your chosen major's 'school' i.e., School of Business, etc at the new school.
Also, another thing is to find out what accredidation system your current school is a part of and then the new school's as well. It's on their websites. Then you should be able to find a list of accepted accredidations as well. Warning: If you are wanting to transfer as a 'transfer student' beware that each school and program has specific rules as to what constitutes a 'transfer student'. I would strongly advise you to contact the school to make sure you cover your bases.

Do you attend a public school? If so, your state might have a database where you can quickly see which of your courses are accepted by other schools. Some colleges also have sections in their website especially designed for transfer students with resources and lists of courses which are transferable. For the most part, general courses such as English Composition, College Algebra and introductory courses (Psychology 101, Sociology 101, World History I) are transferable from and to most universities around the country.

The only way is to ask how many credits will the school accept. Some will accept all and some will only accept a certain percentage of your credits earned. Another problem is that the credits you have earned will fit in with their programs they most likely will not accept credits that they do not offer themselves.

Get a copy of your transcripts from the former college, take them to see a counselor at your new school and have them cross reference them. They will be able to tell you on the spot if they transfer or not.
