Voting Democrat, because the GOP are all, or nearly all, greasy amoral scumbags who have auctioned off our country to corporate lobbyists.
Am I thrilled with the Dems? No. Do they represent "my values"? No. But we have 2 viable choices in this country, and that basically always means choosing the lesser of two evils. Just shows what a miserable system it is.
P.S. If the Republicans are the party of "personal responsibility" (pause for laughter), then Bush ought to repeal his tax cuts for the mega-wealthy in order to pay for his hugely expensive war of choice. Because it's really not a question of who will pay - WE will, sooner or later - and you do understand that these are RECORD deficits - it's a question of who hands us the bill, and I feel that it ought to be the guy who ran up the tab. That sounds like "personal responsibility" to me.
P.P.S. - I can't even begin to imagine the thought process that leads to the conclusion that the GOP is working in the interests of the "middle class worker." Sorry if you don't like the term "scumbags," but it's descriptive of a fact.

I am an avowed Independent. I refuse to label myself as either a Republican or Democrat, or anything else. I am a taxpaying, registered voter of the United States of America, and as such I will vote for the candidate who most closely mirrors my views on the issues at hand. I will use the newpapers, internet and all other available avenues to examine these issues for myself, and make my own informed decision from the facts I am able to gain. I have never, and will never, vote for a person simply because of their party affiliation.

That's a great question since I also do not really understand how a republican can be liberal or a democrat conservative. In my opinion, all republicans are conservative, but it looks like there are some people who do not think so. I guess that liberal republican is somebody who leans towards some liberal stuff that most republicans do not approve. Now, McCain is called "liberal" because: -he is far less religious than most conservatives (like Huckabee) -in 2005 he opposed a federal gay-marriage ban -he is farther Left on the immigration than most republicans

I am a true Independent voter, but lean toward Republicans because they better serve my needs as a middle class worker. I discount anyone's opinion that lowers themselves to criticize in terms such as "scum bags", idiots, retards, etc. I will listen to issues. I don't care for Ted Kennedy, but I acknowledge that he has done some good things. I like President Bush, but have disagreed with some of his philosophy. In my home state I voted for a Democrat for Governor, while voting Republican for congress and the senate. I would love for everyone to just be open minded and respect others views.

I'm a Democrat because I believe in the notion that those who are better off have a moral obligation to help those who are less well-off. While the Democratic party as it exists today doesn't always live up to this philospohy, I still prefer a more hands-on approach by the government, rather than the hands-off approach favored by conservatives.
I have a great deal of respect for conservatives who base their views on the idea that government should interfere in society as little as possible, because, even though I don't agree with that view, it at least makes sense. I have less respect for people who choose their party based on hot-button issues like abortion and gay marriage. There are so many important functions of government, and, to me at least, it seems like a waste of a vote to pick someone based solely on one relatively minor issue.

I don't vote Democrat or Republican, I vote for the best person for the job, or the one that I think can have more success and more closely reflects my beliefs and agenda. It's ignorant to vote party-line. (It looks like next week I will be voting about 60% dem and 40% gop).

Good luck getting any kind of sensible answers to this one. I suspect most honest answers would be because they feel they must be "loyal" to the party, no matter how bad it has gotten. Or perhaps they will say that no "third" party can win. They forget that both of the major parties were once minority parties. Times change, folks, and if your party is not doing what you think is right, vote for one that does, even if you don't believe they can win. At least you will have integrity, and you will be telling what you think ought to be.
Vote Libertarian for a change.

I will vote Democrat simply because i want to give the Republicans a few years to try and get their reputations back since the fiasco that is Bush. They need to take some time and clean house and get back to honesty and good government. I voted for Daddy Bush.. liked him, thought he was a good president. Changed my vote to Clinton... and have never tried this Bush because it was clear from the outset, he was an idiot. But that doesn't mean I will give up on the Republicans... just not right now. have to get the bad taste out of my mouth first.

Republicans are for foreign wars and big business, which war is.
they want oil and they have money. They give tax breaks to the wealthyiest Americans. Called trickle down economics.
If your rich vote Republican. They say less government but what they mean is no government programs. Like help with education, after school programs or help to the sick or needly or help with medical bills.
So if you have medical insurance and own a big company and don't want to provide your workers with medical Insurance vote Republican. They are for illegal immigration cheep labor.
Now for the poor or the middle class of Americans. If you don't have medical Insurance and your working for wages, then vote Democrat they are for raise the minimun wage and domestic issues like schools, health care and social security and keeping jobs in America. They are against illegal immigration and out sourceing of jobs to foreign countries. They get out of foreign wars as soon as possible. Like Halburton is Chaneys company and over there is company is making a lot of money.
But if you don't own a company that is making money of off war then vote Democrat. They are a middle class political party.
