I think that they may play both Monty and Gilo at Brisbane. Monty is very tight and doesn't give much away. Gilo has a bit of a hex on one or two of the Aussies and never lets us down in the field or with the bat. Together they could be very effective. So my team would be (in batting order) : Bell, Strauss, Cook, Pietersen, Trescothick, Flintoff, Jones (wk), Giles, Hoggard, Harmison, Panesar. Obviously Freddie has to be 100% fit as he would carry a big bowling load. It's a cautious side - but I'll sett;e for a draw at the Gabba.

Both Monty and Giles arent the strongest of bastsmen so it'll depend either on the pitch or if Fletcher wants a more attacking (Monty) or a contaning (Giles) bowler. Giles on the other hand has more experience agst the Aussies and will be able to handle the away supporters much better!

This is a close call, cos Fletcher wasn't originally a Monty fan. There's no doubt that the better wicket taker will have to play otherwise we'll never get the Aussies out and that is Monty! Whether Fletcher has the bottle to do that I'm not so sure. I think he'll go for the safe bet of Gilo - if he's fit!

Giles was quoted in the Times as saying that he would be the support spinner for Monty, so it will depend on the wickets if he will play.
If there is only 1 spinner it will be Monty, he is already establishing himself as the best finger spinner in the world. Plus his batting and fielding are a lot better then they ever have been, he got 35 runs in the last county championship game for Northampton.

Monty will give us the most trouble on a spinning wicket. He is agressive and takes wickets, whereas Giles normally goes for the more defensive approach.
At perth they may even consider bringing in both Monty and Giles to unsettle the aussies.
Stick with Monty for the number one choice I reckon - although he may need a good kick to get out there - what with all the therapy sessions he's needed for this trip!
