I need some help with this. Can someone tell me which is better overall between an mp3 and an iPod? how are they different? which models would do you recommend? I've never owned either one or tried out either one. I know with the iPod there's a charge per song which I found disappointing. I'm willing to overlook the price as long as the product is worth all the hype. I'm not too familiar with mp3, except that it's cheaper and similar to an iPod. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly I love my MP3 player much better than the iPod. My boyfriend has an iPod Nano, and I have a Creative Zen Nano player, and I find mine so much easier to use than his. He spent all day one weekend installing iTunes, figuring out how to do downloads, etc. and I spent maybe an hour doing the exact same thing with my MP3 player. The thing I like best about my player compared to the iPod is that it's compatible with my Windows Media Player. That's important because I had already uploaded all my CDs into the Windows Media Player long before I bought the MP3 player. f I had bought an iPod instead, I would have had no choice but to do the whole thing over again with iTunes. That would have sucked!!!!!
Now, when you say, "a charge per song," it's important that you know that song downloads are going to cost you, no matter what type of media player you use. Free downloads became illegal (remember that whole Napster thing a few years back?) There are people out there who do know how to get free music downloads but it is illegal. Good luck to you!

get an Ipod. I used to have a ceartive zen xtra but it was a brick! I have a 80GB ipod now and it's much better. its light weight, looks good and you can have much more than just music. You can have videos, games, photos podcasts (which are free!).

Go for the classic ipod for maximum entertainment and the battery life is good too.
