I don't have access to a phone line, but I would like to use my fax machine to send documents through my computer, without having to scan them. Is this possible?

You don't say why you don't have a phone line, probably doesn't matter, but I don't think you can use a regular fax machine without some kind of phone hookup through the wall.

With Vonage and some other companies, you can get phone service through your computer and also use your fax machine, but their device must also be hooked up to your computer and to phone jacks in the house/office wall.

I hope you find a solution to this question.

Some computers offer faxing but you still need a land line. Faxing is phone line dependent as it uses a modem, there are some sites on the internet that offer free internet faxing. Try them. The other question is why are you still using fax? It's 2010, email is so much easier. You should migrate to emailing now. Within a few years no one is going to be faxing anything.

Yes, but without a phone line or being in an MS Exchange environment you will have to use a program online. A lot of people like to use http://www.efax.com You can fax documents from your computer, but if they are in hard copy you will need to scan them into your PC somehow.
