Samuel was the great-grandson of Ezekiel Thomas who came to Texas from South Carolina in 1822. Ezekiel was a member of the "Old Three Hundred", the first 300 families to receive title to property in Texas from Stephan F. Austin. These families were viewed as an elite. Allen's parents, Samuel Ezekiel Allen and Rosa Christie Lum, were among the most prominent Texas ranchers in the early 1900's. Their cattle ranch expanded to a 13,000 acre operation. Yep, B&B... about an 30 min south of Houston in Kemah or Bay Cliff they have a couple of bed and Breakfast places. Kemah especially.

One I'm think of is in Bay Cliff, From Kemah: take 146 south til bay bliff, turn left on the "Main Street" and at the end of the street on the left hand side is a nice one

(I know the directions sound contry but I don't know the names of all the streets but trust me it's there and can be located from these directions)

In closing, going south most B&B are going to be along the waterfront (ie: Laporte, Kemah, Bay Cliff, etc...). I don't know about going North, might wanna try Lake Conroe area.
