i also have nothing to hide, but is that really the point?
what are they doing with all the information that their collecting?
ok i agree that cctv is necessary, it does catch criminals. without it there would be a higher rate of unsolved crime in this country.
but consider this... all the info that is held about u is shared between companies and the government,
what u spend on your credit card and where, your health, your whereabouts, your criminal record, where u go on holiday, how much u earn.
and apparently the new censous is going to get even more personal. they wanna know who ur shagging, how often are u at home etc
why?
and what conclusions about us are drawing from all this info ...
mistakes are gonna be made and peolpe are going to be wrongly accused based on assumptions drawn from incorrect or incomplete data that's supposed to be privat.
this gov. finds it hard to wipe its own **** how the hell is gonna stop all this info getting into the wrong hands?

i have nothing to hide, but why should my life be exposed without my knowledge or consent to people i know nothing about in return and who definatly do not have my best interests at heart?

Yes, everyone is a suspect.

I don't think the UK government is interested in law or ethics as they can make these up as they go along (judging from past performance).

The notion that "I have nothing to hide" is never true. To generate revenue, speed cameras have been used to catch people doing 32mph on 30 limit (on a down hillstretch). The most lucrative camera "earned" 120 million pounds last year.

Unfortunately, most people in the UK prefer to queue quietly and be herded and controlled like sheep. They have failed to notice the wolves doing the herding - "what big teeth you have grandma..."

This Government has introduced creeping totalitarianism since it came to power. With it, comes ever more invasion of our privacy. The answer that is often given, is, "why not? I have nothing to hide". This is a naive answer, because you can't know what use this information may eventually be put to. Governments are there to serve us and not to micro manage our lives as part of a gigantic social engineering experiment. What is interesting about this Government, is that they seem to create social breakdown and then use it as an excuse/platform to bring in corrective measures, which coincidentally, impinge further on our liberties.

it's preposterous (not sure if i spelled that one right) it's against the basic human right of ones own privacy. It's rediculous, as most cameras that we are caught on each day are not really useful anyway, e.g. traffic cameras are a waste of time and money , as are most security systems outside peoples houses or businesses, though i must say i am probably being hypocritical, as if i had a succesful business i would have survalence everywhere.

Why are people so glib about being spied on? It doesn't matter if you think you have nothing to hide. When tyranny gains power, when you finally see how fascist we have become, it will be too late to do anything about it because you will have given up all your freedom without a fight.
How do you think it went down in Nazi Germany?

Another question for you "go ahead and spy on me folks"
There's nothing wrong with wiping your butt, but do you want everybody to see you do it? How about having sex with your husband or wife? Do you want everybody to see you do it?

Fight for your freedom. Expect some pricacy.

its been going on for years, if the government was an individusl they would be in a phsyciatric ward.THEY WANT TO GET SOMETHING ON EVERY BODY THEY DONT WANT ANYBODY BEING INNOCENT. Be afraid, its not a matter of if you have anything to hide, its a matter of you having the wrong oppinions, there are such things as bent lawyers bent plititions bent councillors bent cops and people can be fitted up, very easily and many are in britain, no Nation who does this can classed as a free country,. what would hitler have done if he had todays technolgy. HE WOULD HAVE SPIED ON EVERY BODY.

There's no more freedom...
the both of you will be confined, to this mind

I was told, there's a miracle for each day that I try
I was told, there's a new love that's born for each one that has died
I was told, there'll be no one to count on
when I feel alone and afraid
I was told, if you dream of the next world,
you'll find yourself swimming in a lake of fire....

Expect the spying and invasion of every man's privacy to not only continue, but to accelerate, encompassing all....

They're doing it here too. 9/11 gave them the "right" to bring into creation the Patriot Act which allows them to practically sleep in our beds without us knowing if they so choose. It's disgusting and people need to wake up before martial law becomes a reality.

If the government are interested in what I do then let them spy on me! I have nothing to hide, I dont break the law or do anything morally reprehensible. I will happily wave at the cameras and show my personal ID card (the sooner the better!!) to any official who asks.
Seems to me the people who do all the bleating are the ones with something to hide!
