I have a 1979 Suzuki GS1000E, and it will not start. I replaced the spark plugs a month ago, reset my points and it has been running find since. I have not driven it in the past 2 days. It is outside and it has been really cold. Is it just cold natured or something esle? I am stumped.

It was the left side point. For some reason it came loose. Thanks to the ones that actually responded with a helpful response.

Check air intake and filter, gas filter, and pull a plug wire and hold it close and try to start, see if you have spark to the plugs., see if there is gas in the tank (i did that once) and that the valve is on.

Pull the spark plugs and check with a volt meter to see if the wires are getting current. There could be a loose wire somewhere in the connection. Check to make sure your battery is fully charged and all connections are tight.

Is the battery in good order? If not then maybe the engine cannot turn over fast enough to light off. If it spins ok and you checked the obvious stuff, it may be the choke malfunctioning, or it may be flooded after a carb float valve leaked over the last two days.

May be cold natured but it may be struggling to get fuel. Make sure your carburetor is clean. You can try running the bike with the gas additive cleaners but if the deposits are bad you might have to open it up and use some heavy duty solvents on it.

Add on: of course test the 'stupid stuff... Battery has juice? Does it turn over and not start or just turning the key provides nothing? Kick start an option? Is your generator working if the battery is dead? Is the starter good? Spray a LITTLE ether in the airbox to see if that kicks it if it turns over...

Check to see if the choke works or is stuck.
Spray WD40 in the intake, it works as a starting fluid.
