Well I thank everyone for their input. Someone told me my modem needed reset. I shut comp down, unplugged it and unplugged phone line for 5 mins. Now things seem to be working.

I don't know whether your pc is virus infected or not. Have you done any disk clean up or defragmenting? ... I recently helped my friend to do both on his pc. Now he says his pc is running much faster.. I suggest you do the free Windows Live OneCare online safety full system scan. I find it quite effective. If you have the Windows Live toolbar you can click open the PC Health or 1 Care icon. I would do a full scan once a month and a quick scan if I don't have the time. Some pc take a few hours to do that. If you don't have too many programs on your pc it won't take so long. If you don't have that toolbar, then you can go to microsoft.com, then click 'athome', then 'security' and then 'products'.Choose Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner. You don't have to download the 90 day free trial. If you want download the free trial you'll have to remove your present anti virus program. Hope this helps.

If it's doing it suddenly, it's most likely another Spybot that S&D and CC didn't catch. Be sure to have the updates on both of the programs when you run them. A spybot checker that I like that often catches things that S&D doesn't is called AdAware from Lavasoft. It is available free at this link:

Also, give HijackThis a try.

some antivirus will miss key keylogger and trojans . frist of all you need to download avg antispyware this is verry good in getting all kinda bad files . then you need to download Adaware
a-squared< is verry good in picking up traking software files that is on the pc and it will find them . then download antispyware blocker that will find any type of virus . trojans files with antispyware blocker when you run that at the top of the box ur see
C:\ WINDOWS
remove the word windows and just leave in

C:\

then hit scan it will search all of the pc every file for virus or trojans and this will not have any problem with ur antivirus you have i have this my self .

then download spyware doctor that will search the pc for even more spyware adaware . just having 1 or 2 antispyware dont cut any ice at all you neeed what i said to download . when you have them run ur pc in safemode and scan the pc with then 1 at a time . this way from safemode the trojan and keylogger cant hide them self coz there is not internet access on in safe mode all the software i said to download will get the trojans and keylogger

if they say some are in the registry you watch what path there in and get in the registry and right hit on that folder and hit remove dont worry when the pc restart up win xp will creat a new clean folder for you

Have you scanned for Spyware? If now not down load, replace and test with Spybot and Adaware. How lengthy seeing that you ran a diskcleanup? Is your force unfastened from fragmentation? This ailment can gradual matters down. Keep a assess on frag phases and in addition at the unfastened area.

There is nothing wrong with the configuration of your system. I guess perhaps there are some unnecessary services(software) running contineously behind running ur OS. Better mail me or join on yahoo messenger to discuss.

Wow, lots of good answers here. Additionally, as another said, your RAM looks low (I'd say look at running at least 256 to 512 to run XP), how big is your HDD or is it full, how long since you defragged, how many programs you running? Take it one step at a time and take out one problem at a time and look at it. :-)

careful what you download. Defrag you're hard drive. Go to start system tools and defrag your hard drive. Delete cookies and internet files. Uninstall whatever you downloaded it's probably a bug. Use Norton or Mcafee.
