I came into his room calling him for dinner and I couldn't find him. So I went further into his room and caught him pleasuring himself in the closest. It was embarrassing, for the both us. I just quickly turned my head and told him to come down for dinner as if nothing was out of the ordinary. But we both know what happened, I just don't know if I should go and talk to him about it. He's 15. Any suggestions please

like most people said, theres really nothing to talk about. he needs to lock his door or be more discreet, but he'll still masturbate when he has the urge and opportunity.

you should talk to him about sex, pregnancy and diseases, because surprisingly lots of teens still dont know about condoms and things like that. just because he's masturbating doesnt mean he's sexually active.

just make sure that when he says he's doing his homework, with his bedroom door locked, that hes actually doing his homework! :)

It's time to sit him down and tell him the truth. What you saw was normal. Be calm, relax, but you need to explain to him that he's a young adult male and these feelings will come and go often. Even if he says he knows about the birds and the bee's, believe me he doesn't have the whole picture. I would research some good literature for you to read to know what to say. No lectures, no yelling, no condemning him. Be lucky he hasn't had sex with a girl yet! Babies at 15 is a real scary thing.

what ever you do don't make a big deal out of it .just to start a conversation with him ask if he has a girl friend or if he likes any one at school once you get him talking just give him the run down on the birds and the bees ............just to be safe and let him know that what he was doing is normal very normal his hand is not going to fall off or grow hair and to give him his space you will knock next time he is in his room ...........be glad he was caught pleasuring him self rather than some one else ....................

Most kids will cringe at anything sex related that their parents talk about. I'm 18 and, as pathetic as it sounds, I still blush and stop talking when my parents joke/ talk about sex. I can talk normally about it and joke about it to my friends fine, it's just the concept of my parents saying this stuff that embarrasses me. If he's like me he will slowly grow out of it as he grows up, but just respect that he gets uncomfortable when his parents talk about sex and back off that topic. He knows it's fine to masturbate, everyone does it. The last thing he wants you to do is talk about it.

I think you should not say anything if you are a female but find some older male in his life to talk to him about it. ALthough this will be an uncomfortale conversation there should be something said but if you are his mom there is nothing you can say to help him or guide if you understand where im coming from.

I had the same thing happen to me i caught my son doing it under his covers in the bed so i sorta scared him when i caught him. The best thing to do is have a positive male figure in his life that you know he is comfortable with talk to him about it. As a mother and female its kinda hard to talk to your son about that even if you are close to them cause it is embarrasing to the both of you. I had my son;s uncle talk to him and it turned out good.

Good luck

depends on how close your relationship is with your son. Isn't there a male who can talk to him? It isn't a bad thing, and he probably is humiliated beyond the sky. No, I wouldn't talk to him about it...it will only embarrass him more...it won't be the last time...he'll just be more discreet next time hopefully.

Don't mention it...
OR...
Just tell him you noticed him in the closet and you want
to assure him that you are not shocked or disappointed
and what he was doing was perfectly fine & natural but next
time he might want to lock his bedroom door or leave you some
kind of sign or signal so you don't barge into his room...

You catching him was probably more embarassing for him. At least he's not out getting some girl pregnant. You should just let it go, it he wants to talk to you about it, let him. But you shouldn't be the one to bring it up.Take care
