There are different ideas on this. When I was pregnant with my 3rd child the obstetrician that I started with told me I needed to lose 40 pounds while pregnant, not gain weight because I was already overweight and I would be healthier for delivery if I eliminated some flab and fat from my own body. I was put on a healthy well balanced diet combined with good prenatal vitamins and was assured that this would be fine for my baby. I was already about 2 months along when I first went to this doctor. During the time I was pregnant I exercised regularly but not strenuously - walked a lot - and got healthier. I weighed 7 pounds more on the day my daughter was delivered than when I first found out I was pregnant. Within about three weeks after delivery between baby, water weight, losing extra fluid, etc. I weighed about 20 pounds under where I began. Sure was a nice feeling to be able to get back comfortably into my clothes and so many people commented on how "refreshed" and "young" that I looked that it made me want to continue this way. I would get up every morning and put on my makeup and try to look "fresh". My daughter didn't care of course, but it made me feel better during a stressful time, probably made my husband feel better to see me looking good after the last few weeks of pregnancy (dragging, no energy, ya know!). Taking care of myself helped take better care of all of us and only took about 5 minutes each morning to start off the day!
I recommend that you talk to your doctor about your concerns. Some might have other ideas than mine did. I thought he was crazy too when he first told me that, and friends told me not to follow his advice. If you trust your doctor, ask what he or she thinks. Most doctors recommend regular exercise and a good diet during pregnancy, eliminating lots of "fat causing goodies" so maybe this will be all you need. I hope you have a wonderful time trying to get pregnant - a safe and happy pregnancy, and a wonderful healthy baby. Good that you are concerned.

Talk to your doctor about this. I'm sure they can tell you some healthy ways to drop a few pounds. I lost 18 pounds in my first 2 months of pregnancy due to morning sickness. I threw up alot!!!! All day actually...not just in the morning. I wouldn't wish it on anybody though. It was a quick way to loose a few but in the long run you gain it all back plus more. Good Luck! I think it's a great idea to try to loose the weight before you get pregnant because lemme tell ya.....you'll gain enough after it's all said and done. It'll be much easier to loose what you have now then to add more on to it!

If you're not pregnant now, start exercising (especially areobics and cardio) and eat right (not only for your health but for your future baby's health). If you're already pregnant, you'll just have to wait until after he/she comes. Doctors are strongly against weight loss during pregnancy. Read "Mayo Clinic's Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy" for tips. You can still exercise during pregnancy, but your goal should be health, not weight loss. The added muscle will help in labor as well as getting weight off after your baby arrives. Best of luck!

For the first few months you can still lose weight if you do it safely, eat right, don't over do it on exercise. Even moderate exercise is safe during pregnancy. Walking, swimming, light cardio. I always did it throughout my pregnancies. Dr.s usually recommend it, as long as it's not over done and you still eat right.

Many people are dieting, drinking alcohol, riding rollercoasters, etc. at the beginning of pregnancy without knowing they are pregnant. This doesn't present a problem at such as early point. That said, however, if you know you are pregnant, dieting is certainly not something you want to do. you would never want to restrict any kind of dietary income to your child. What you can do is choose to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet for your baby or to lose weight. This would prove beneficial to you and your child.

no, however that does not imply you need to consume the whole thing below the solar both, being pregnant calls for approximately three hundred energy additional in step with day. Discuss your weight matters together with your OB, and most probably he/she's going to let you know that you simply must make healthful meals offerings and take a prenatal nutrition with 400mcg of folate, and likewise advise a weight reap variety for you. Dieting or lowering energy/fats/vitamins and minerals implies that no longer simplest will much less be to be had to you, however much less for your establishing little one as good. I got PG while trying to lose weight. Once I became pregnant, I stopped the diet...but with the morning sickness, I still lost like 10lbs...which I have already gained back....
If you want to lose weight before...I would suggest staying on the pill and dieting, then when you reach your goal, get off the pill...you will probably convieve quicker then too...
