I come from a small town in Northern Italy, where everybody is friendly and laid back. Living in NYC is a shocker to me! I have encountered the rudest people ever. I am extremeley polite and friendly and have been "slapped in the face" in numerous occasions. I also would like to mention that I have lived and traveled allover the world. Milan, Munich, Zuerich, Hamburg, Vienna Cape town and Paris. People in Paris are not very friendly either, but in a different way than New Yorkers. Have any of you had bad experiences in NYC?

SB, you are correct. I live in NJ (OK it's not the friendliest and laid back state in the U.S. either, but it's not as bad as people think. Better than NY, and besides we are too close to NYC to avoid all the badness). NYC is a fun place to visit once in a while but it is way too crowded and the pace and stimuli are too much. It's like living in overdrive and humans weren't designed for that over time. The funniest part is that NYC people are so arrogant that they are convinced that anyone who doesn't live in NYC is envious and would do anything to live there. Not me.

I live about 45 minutes outside of NYC. Can still access the city, but can also breathe and relax. I think it is the best gig going.

Yes.... way too many to count....
Actually people there are rude because first of all they are living in a place where they dont want to, its really crowded, most of the people are in a rush and a hurry... and i guess they just wanna be left alone and cud care less abt the rest of us....

I am not from NY but I have been there. In their defense I would say in order to survive in NY rudeness is required. These people are all lost and don't know it.
