His re-election fund... just like every other presidential candidate in history.
This gets brought up every few years, and the answer is always the same. His re-election staffers raise money through fund raising and donations. That money is used for advertising, travel expenses, etc. While campaigning, he is still president, and we (the taxpayers) must continue to pay for his security. However, if he flies aboard Air Force 1 for campaign purposes, he must foot the bill for the fuel. It is actually a very fair system, just as it was when Clinton did the same things.

A wild guess.... the taxpayers? This election cycle, Bush made ninety (90) !! private appearances at fundraisers all over the country before he started doing these free admission rallies. Republican donors pay only a fraction of the real cost of bringing the President to speak and greet.

campaign funds dont worry its not tax payer money. and if it is we will find out cause it will make the news. the rebublicans fund his and anyone else running for there party. mainly from donations and stuff like that. rest assure again though that it is not tax payer money.
if your talking about like state of the union and stuff like that thats tax payer but dont get hurt over that it comes with the job he has to speak and the democrats do it when they are in office too its a must. put its all governement travel so its cheaper than what we would pay for a ticket with lets say delta or american airlines etc etc

I remember that when Clinton did that, there were reports that the DNC paid for his visits. I assume that with Bush, it is the Republican Party.
In general, it is not The American People. However, if he does some other official business, then it is likely that we all pay for part of it. For example, the people pay for him to fly to Texas when he goes to his home in Crawford. If he happens to do some politicking while down there -- we end up footing part of the bill.

Taxpayers to some extent or another....
Even if GOP money is used to pay fro some it, now way doesn it pay for all of it. Does GW give up his salary or use vacation to travel. What about Sec. Svc or Air Force 1 costs for fuel, salaries, etc.

You do - the good ol' American taxpayer.
Whether you like it or not, we end up footing the bill for all of a sitting President's campaign stumping. Seems a little unpatriotic, unfair, and dishonest, don't you think? -RKO-
