Always always go the legal route when ever you have to deal with children. This way you have papers to back you if you want to see your child. If for any reason the mother holds animosity against you and tries to get you in trouble with the authorities you have paper work to protect you. Good luck to you and your daughter!

there are several things to consider!! did she have a valid reason for running? You know the truth! if not then does you ex make friends easily? the reason for that is if you is a sociable person then she probably will have the personel at the school call once someone calls about ya'lls child and then if you call you could be giving her a heads up to run!! my advice is if you are not aiming to hurt her or your daughter and your x is just keeping her from you then be sneaky. check internet for name and address of you x and even your daughter. there are many sites that you can pay and a few that you can get for free that will lead you to her. Then when you go to the athorities you need to make sure to let them know that it is important that she not know that you are involved until absolutly nessessary. In order to keep her from running again. another option is find her info and wait until your daughter is most likely at school and then aproach your x with your concerns that she has intintionally kept your child from you and let her know that if she is not willing to let you see your girl then you will get the law involved and remind her that you found her this time and will find her no matter where she goes and how many times she moves you will be there!! likely once she realizes you are there for good yall will be able to work something out!!! Caution you never know what she has told your daughter so never let your gaurd down!! I do this with my x whom I want to see his kids and I know that even though my efforts are only a year long now that he will eventually realize that I mean buisness and Im here to stay so he might as well pretend he wants something to do with these kids he helped to create!!! GOOD LUCK and NEVER give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you suspect you know where your daughter is..Take the legal approach.! I know the legal system stinks sometimes but It would be a lot safer for you doing this the legal way. Good luck in finding your daughter, I'm sure It's been a rough 10 years for you. I couldn't even imagine not seeing one of my kids for that long!!

I would consult an attorney first just for some advice. You have rights to see your daughter and you should take the safe route to enable that the mother doesnt take off with her again!

If you think she would be receptive to you reaching out to her that is always the preferred method. Failing that you may have to take legal action. Try to be humble don't expect that you are entitled. There could be a lot of pain here.

if shes middle school age you'll have to go thru legal channels, unless you already have custody orders signed by judge. if you already have orders than present them to the police where she is and figure out how to proceed. If you dont have orders, go thru legal channels. folling the proper process will allow for a judge to look favorably on any request you make for custody
