Who's the best person/company to appraise a trunk?

I have this old trunk that I think may be worth something. I want to get it appraised but I am not sure of who to use and who to stay away from. I'm in Richmond, VA and would like some suggestions as to where to get the trunk appraised. I would also appreciate some advice on how to determine for myself if the trunk is valuabe. I do have some pictures available.

A reputable antiques dealer. "Reputable" being the hardest part. Word of mouth from someone local to your area as a recommendation is probably the best way to go.

In addition, get at least three estimates.
