I am a licensed funeral director in New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. I have been licensed for almost 40 years. I love my work as I am helping families during a very difficult time in their lives. Contrary to what many people thing, the time a funeral director spends working with the remains (body) is generally the smallest part of a funeral. Most autopsies are performed in a hospital or medical examiners office. Only on rare occasion are the performed in a funeral home. Personally, I do not like to watch them.
