Definitely, Freud, just like everyone says. It's interested that Freud was purchased from the Nazis during WW2. The western govenments got together and purchased his freedom. I can't remember the exact sum. He and his houshold were then moved to London where he resided until his death. There is the Freud Museum in london complete with his famous couch. His daughter continued his work after his death.

I would have to say Sigmund Freud. Much as I think he was a pioneer, I personally favor the theories of one of his students, Carl Jung. But Jung acknowledged that he learned from Freud, so call Freud the father.
He'd appreciate the symbolism.

Perhaps you can compromise with him and go to a technical arts college where you can study acting, costume design... and have a fallback if the acting does not quite take off. I can understand his apprehensions as very few potential actors actually make it to the big time. That said, there is no reason that you cannot be one of the few who makes it. As already suggested, consider a back-up plan but go for the acting. Break a leg!
