Your right, currently this is how the "game" is played. The only way I could see a person of the people for the people being put in office is If this person spent a year meeting and sharing his ideas with the people of the area that he wants to represent. Doing it this way would cut out the lobbyist, politicians etc.And its depressing they way things are done now, because I beleve most people have never heard of the guy/gal that puts advertisement on the t.v. or flyers out just before the election, but the feel they must vote. I suggest that if their are any of us who feel they way you do (and Im one of them) we the people should write to everyone, senators governuers, poll gathering firms etc. and tell them just, like and anxious father whose daughter is going to be taken out, we need to know you better, so do all that you can to come and meet us and talk with us, and not the policital machines because we are the ones who elect you.

No. The only reason to BE a career politician is to help YOURSELF. Not your voting base. Until the people of this nation start electing the plumber or the dock worker down the street, to make decisions, this is the WAY things are always going to be. ALL career politicians are crooked.

If I were Ted Kennedy, I'd punch you in the nose for implying that I, Ted Kennedy, don't care about "the common people" and that I always pass laws "based on payoffs from lobbyists." I'd read you the riot act for believing in ugly, unfounded stereotypes and for painting me (Ted) with that broad paint stroke.
