I graduated college a year and a half ago. I graduated with a degree in Broadcasting and a 3.5 GPA, during which I worked at a national TV show as an intern. I am worried because, since then I have not found a stable job . One company I found hired me and then closed down after 4 months. I have not held a steady job since college, I have been working as a salesperson at two stores in the mall. I hate to do this and want to get ahead, I feel like I am wasting my college education. And for someone that is two years out of college, I have never made more than $15,000 for the year. I am constantly looking for jobs, even in other fields, but nothing seems to pan out. I live alone and find it very very hard to survive of the $ that I make at these jobs. My parents are fed up and won't even speak with me and said that someone my age should not be making such little money, and no benefits. They keep repeating to me to try another field and that I am wasting my time. Please help!!

Try "field reporting" for a local news affiliate in your area. Most stations are constantly looking for field reporters. Just do your best to maintain a good, clean, fit appearance.

The job market is cruel. You are in a Catch 22 situation here, but to bust out of this cycle you are in, you are going to have to do the following. Take a hard look at your resume - get it reviewed by friends, etc.. Make sure there are no typos etc.. You haven't indicated your location, so I am guessing that there might be opportunities nearby. Either way, you may need to be willing to move to obtain a job in Broadcasting. Scan the papers, internet, and any other source you can think of to find opportunities, send a nice cover letter and your resume. You will generally have to send off many applications to get a few interviews. Ask a few pertinent questions about the job before you waste yours and their time with an interview. Act excited (not nervous) when you go for the interviews. The rest will just have to come. After you have done all of this, please keep a list of all that you have done, so that you can demonstrate to your parents that you are trying to better your situation. Good luck.

Try finding a job with a large university - good pay, great benefits, very stable, lots of options.

For example:

You can check out the job list without being logged in.

broadcasting isn't easy, maybe its where your at maybe try a differnt city, you like what you do though, maybe it's not a new job or field, but a new area to live in.

chances are few in life and when you risk something like moving you put more of your heart out there
