I know it's supposed to be the best movie of all time and that's why I tried so hard to watch it, but it wasn't for me.

I wasn't aware it was classed as the 'best movie of all time' (it would be very hard to make such definitive statement about any film when so many have been made!), but I think I know what you are getting at when you said you found it boring. My only comment would be to watch it again, maybe in 10 or 15 years time when you might have a different attitude to the central theme of the film.

God yes it's boring as hell! I had to watch it twice for a film class and write a paper on it. I've blocked everything out of my memory except for Rosebud. That way I can answer trivia questions at parties.

No but I guess because I study film I was taught that it was so great that I watch it with a different mentality.

Yes, I'm sorry, but it seemed to drag sooooo much. The end, though, where they torch the sled, that actually hurt me. Hmph.
