I know that it is true and not a myth because i have experienced it myself but i just cant work out how this can happen. Our bodies have their own little cycle so how can this change it? Thanks

It's really interesting, actually... it's done by pheromones. Certain women are menstrual pacesetters, and they emit scents (you can't consciously smell them) that make other women conform to their cycles.
They found this out by placing pads under the arms of these pacesetting women, and then wiping the pads on the upper lips of other women. Result: synchronicity within five months. And don't you wish you'd been a part of THAT study.

I remember reading somewhere that it has something to do with the moon and its phases. In the old days before all the electric lighting it was apparently worse, like in a woman's prison all the females would basically have their periods at approximately the same time (though everyone's cycle is a bit different).

I hope someone comes up with a good, accurate answer. My sister and I are in sync and we live in same house. I've worked with females and we were in sync after a couple of months. It seem like a hormone/pheromone type thing.

I think it's something to do with the pheromones that a woman gives off as she menstruates that syncs women up. I can't say I've ever found it to be true myself.

Women who are in close proximity e.g. nuns, army personnel living in barracks, women in prison etc. give off pheromones from the sweat and other body fluids which are enough to cause other women to come into sync gradually. This has been shown to occur experimentally.

I don't know what causes it, but I know it definitely is true, I have 4 daughters, and we all Had our period within about 7 days of each other. I felt sorry for my poor husband, because of course we all had pmt together as well. Thank goodness they've all left home now.

That is true for some...however I have two teenage daughters and we all cycle on different days....and they last for different amounts...
but the women I work with are closer to me as far as cycle..
strange huh?

ma and my sister are totaly the same we get them the sametime and mostly finish the same time too very weird .
