There are several products to help with this. The first thing is to wipe it down with a mild soap, then a damp towel to remove all the soap residue. Then you can use a paper towel with a little bit of oil (olive, or a stainless steel oil). This will eliminate any streaks and smears. Don't wipe it with a wet towel, or you will add streaks again.

The best stainless steel Oil I have ever found is a product called Stainless Steel Shine. Its an orange scented oil, but I don't know where to find it. The company I used to work for supplied it to me. You might be able to buy some from them, (Getz Fire, you can find them on the web) or maybe a restaurant supply store might have it.

Lemon oil (sparingly) works great to shine appliances. I managed apartments (1600) and had my cleaning staff prepare apartments for show and move-in this way. A stainless steel sink or appliances will shine this way.
Also, baby wipes or microfiber cloths for dusting are great not to leave streaks. Using window cleaner will clean it, but does not always leave a shine, and it depends on how diligent you are in wiping whether it leaves streaks or not. I have had the best results with lemon oil (check out the furniture polish section).

When i was cleaning new homes. we used lemon oil on them and you just wipe it on and then with a dry cotton cloth.. just wipe all the excess oil off and it will shine with out streaks just like new.. we used it on the stainless steel sinks alos..
works great.. only need a little small bottle last a very long time.

I've used Method stainless steel wipes (available at Target) and they work great. Simple Human also makes a microfiber glove for polishing/de-smudging stainless steel. I've heard good things about it but I haven't used it myself.

I don't know if it works on stainless steel, but I know it works on glass/mirrors from one of my friends in the Navy. Try using newspaper. It won't leave any streaks or lint. That's what they use so they don't get hammered on Navy inspections.

Use oil.
A little baby-oil on a cloth will give a great finish to stainless steel.
Cooking oil works too, but not as well. The best stuff is light-oil spray (baby oil stuff).
Remember to use sparingly
