The best thing to do is use a proxy client that will rout your internet connection to a different location. All the communication between you and the proxy client is encrupted,a nd typically the proxy server will not convey any of your personal settings to any web site you visit. When the site looks for your ip address, it will find the ip address fo the proxy server -- which is often used by thousands of other users.

There is no program to block your IP address. The web server needs your IP address to send responses.

Read the terms of service on these web sites. They nearly all reserve the right to collect this information. If you don't like the terms of this agreement, don't return to the site.

They also have this right, more like a responsibility, to collect this information to investigate illegal activity. If someone tries to hack their site, they can use this information to locate the hacker.

To help you stay away from sites that misuse the data they collect from you, I suggest using Mcafee Site Advisor. It will alert you if you are entering a site that has these problems.
