Drive her tot he Doctor yourself. Her embarrassment could shorten or cost her life. Ask her whats more important.
A little bit of embarrassment wont kill you. But not taking care of something serious like this could.
If you have no power or are too young to take her yourself. Get a close family member or friend to do it for you.
Don't take no for an answer!

There is no other way to get this checked out than to see the doctor. If she hasn't had her yearly physical yet this year encourage her to make the appointment sooner to get this checked out. tell her that if she goes in for her physical now she won't have to do it later in the year. Remind her that she shouldn't be embarassed to see a doctor about anything as this is what he went to school for was to help people and he has seen or heard it all before. Remind your mom that you want her to be healthy so she can enjoy life. Since you know about her problem and took the time to post here remind her that the doc is just doing his job when he checks out these kinds of problems and tell her to make the appointment. Try to get her to make the appointment with you around and if you are brave enough tell her if she doesn't make the appointment you will do it for her. It is most likely nothing serious but needs to be checked out. Good Luck.

I'm actually going thru the same thing right now. I've been on for over 3 months. It's always been irregular for me (it comes once in maybe two-three months and last for a long time). I tried a pap smear but a virgin and it hurt so bad so, I couldn't complete it and they didn't give me any other options. I thought that it was PCOS but I did a blood test but they didn't find anything wrong. I'm 22 and I still don't know what's causing it and I don't know what to do. She should go to a doctor for a pap smear and blood test because if it's PCOS, she need to start treatment ASAP.

I had the same problem, in fact, I had my period for 9 months once! The problem is actually common and called "dsyfunctional uterine bleeding". I had never had a "Normal" cycle and lived with it for years. A Murena IUD was the answer and for the first time in 28 years, I have normal periods...

She shouldn't be embarrased and if she is, the best thing to do for her would be to find a female doctor - I think she'll be more comfortable speaking with a woman about the situation...

She definitely needs to go to the doctor before she waits till they can't fix whatever is wrong. Something is out of balance. No one should go that long.

tell her shes being stupid, that there is no need to be embarassed. doctors are trained to deal with awkward suituations. tell her to go to a female doctor. and go to one that isnt friends with her family. but if she hasnt told her parents and isnt going to she will have to pay the fees heself.
