why is there so many jewish actors in hollywood?

i was looking up a few actor's biographies and they all seemed to be jewish. is there a massive jewish population in america?

They are good with business and Hollywood is a business.

Many of the Jews that survived World War II came to America. Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren are here now. Hollywood was a good place for them, originally as producers -- putting up the money -- and then as all sorts of other fields, because the producers were there and had influence. Many of the agents and other business-minded people in Hollywood have always been Jewish because they worked in the theater, especially in New York, from before movies were invented. Also, the writers and actors were disproportionately Jewish because so many old-fashioned Christians disapproved of movies.

Remember that we are currently into third and fourth generation actors. Those who do well in Hollywood are often those who grew up with acting and other movie professions. And then there's the remarkable good looks and charm of Jewish men. . . or am I showing my bias now?

Read the book "How the Jews Invented Hollywood" and that gives you a historical look at reasons. And certainly - like all industries - once someone in the family is - its easier for the offspring (Ben Stiller). The recent flush of young jewish actors like Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman, Seth Rogan, Paul Rudd is interesting although the leading men of the 60s, 70s,80s - Heston, Stallone, Burt Reynolds, Redford, Connery - were hardly jewish - Newman was half. Some like Rogen make it because they are good comedy writers - minorities - blacks and jew - are overrepresented in comedy and that is culturally influenced. Baptists don't like to be self-deprecating.

Jews built the major Hollywood studious back in the beginning of last century. And they are still in control over there. They tend to help each other out. Plus, a lot of them are really good actors and a lot of them are world famous actors.
