I just bought a house with a second floor where my childerens rooms will be. They are young, 3,4 and 6. I am concerened that they will open the windows and possibly fall out. Is there a product out there that locks windows closed? I need one that my inventive kids cant break or remove. ( they know how to work the little tabs you can pop out as an extra locking precaution) I already have had problems with them unlocking and opening windows. I just want to keep them safe.

Seems to me if your children are that inventive, they can be taught not to open the windows! I believe any locks or screws will only result in harm or worse during an egress situation. Please consider this very carefully!!!

You could put a "stop" where the window slides up and down, if they are double hung windows. Fasten a little block of wood, or anything that will keep the window from going all the way up. If they are another type of window, ask at the hardware store, giving them a good description of the windows.

I have heard of products out there to lock the windows to keep kids from opening and getting out. Look at your local hardware store for these locks. Please remember that if they can't open the window then in case of a fire you need a plan.

Screw them shut. Also, go to a hardware store and find the safety locks that go on the top of the window to prevent them from opening. Added bonus: you could get a discount on homeowner's insurance for adding "security measures."
