Well, sweetie, it depends. Is this doctor a friend of the family? If so, well, your secret might be out. The only way he can tell is either if you had recent sex (a day) or if you hymen is broken - and that is not a way to determine viginity - unless he has seen it intact before. Even still, it can be broken open by just falling on the middle bar of a bicycle - and how would I know.. it happened to me!!

Odds are he cant tell, he wont tell and if he does, sue the crap out of him - depending on your state's privacy laws of course.

This is something that you should discuss with your mother on your own, when you are ready and if she is the type of mom that you can talk to about it. Otherwise, talk to a counselor about it. If you are a minor and having sex, I am sure that by now you realize the emotional load that it puts on you and you may not be ready for that. Its not just about the possibility of getting pregnant, its about choosing the right partner, handling the emotions of love and intimacy at a higher level, etc.

Irregardless of your personal moral views of this, society frowns on it and so just be aware that if it gets out, there will be a backlash.

Above all, care for yourself, get regular pap exams now (once a year), get on birth control if you can and if you dont have any disorders that would prevent you from taking it. It has other benefits besides preventing pregnancy, it regulates your periods, studies show that there is rarely weight gain associated with it and the obvious. They do not work if you take antibiotics or some other medications so be CAREFUL.

I talk to my son about sex openly and we have a great relationship, I wish you could try and develop that type of relationship with your mother because moms dont have hidden agendas and your well being is the most important thing to them.

Unless they do an internal or you tell your doctor, noone but you will know. You don't say how old you are, but you need parental permission to get birth control (YOU ARE USING IT, RIGHT?) in most states, so if you expect your doctor to just write a prescription and you're a minor, you better rethink.

Also, if your mom comes right out and asks, and your doctor hesitates in the least or says That's confidential, she'll have her answer.

If you aren't mature enough to talk to your mother about this, then you're not mature enough to have sex. Sorry sweetie, but you really need to grow up. It will be a lot worse if you get pregnant or worse and then you have to tell her.

Your parents don't have to be in the room and it is illegal for the doctor to tell your mom or anyone.
When I went for my first physical after I lost my virginity I did not know this and my dad (of all people) was with me. I never told the doctor that I did not want him in the room and I lied when the doctor asked if I was sexually active.
I really wish I would have known what you now know.

They can't tell your mom anything that you don't want her to know. A word from the wise.

I don't know the type of relationship that you have with your mother but if I were you I would tell her. She deserves to know what is going on with you. Yes, she might be mad or even hurt but in the long run she will respect you for your honesty.
Oh, and another thing I hope that you are using PROTECTION!!

The doctors will give you the choice to tell them. Your parents don't have to be in the room. They have an oath not to tell. If there is something wrong then they will ask you first and tell you it is better for them to know. They will counsel you on birth control and STD's though. Good luck.

They probably won't say anything... there is some privacy between a doctor and a patient. Unless the Dr. finds something wrong with you - and your parents get involved for treatment.

Yes because they have a duty to tell your parents because you are a minor. On the other hand if you sign a confidentiality agreement the doctor is forbidden from telling them.

I believe the doctor would be able to know the status of your virginity only if he or she were a gynecologist, or by examination if the region. Otherwise your health information is solely yours. Your parents wouldn't be notified of anything unless you were about to die. It's your basic right to privacy :)

Patients and Dr. confidentiality is a law. I work for a hospital. A Dr. cannot give out any personal info about you unless you are unable to speak for yourself and there is someone appointed to have that info disclosed to. You have nothing to worry about. Chances are your mom may already know. Mine did just by looking at me and by my behavior changes.
