the first thing is global warming, a plaque, a super volcano exploding and causing the sun to dim for a hundred and fifty years and then starvation, told upheaval, and maybe the end of humans on earth all to ether, or if that is not a enough our sun will grow in to a super red giant and burn up our solar system, etc, take your pick.
