This is absolute madness. I have 3 cats whom I love dearly but I dont buy them clothes....they have fur!!!!
I buy them a gift at Christmas such as new cat bed or scatch post and one year I got them a water fountain as it ariates the water, this was cause I got fed up of them drinking out the tap meaning I was leaving the tap running so this way is less wastage. £20/25 for 3 cats at Christmas is ok I think; but then other xmas's they have had a tin of salmon or something.
The saying that "some people have more money than sense" is obviously true.
Surely theses animals cant enjoy being dressed up and ferried around like a doll!!! Most people grow out of dolls.

I think that it's silly to spend that much money outfitting a dog but it does keep money circulating through the economy. At least they're spending the money instead of hording it. You're right about so many other good causes and they may very well be contributing generously to charities as well as spending ridiculous amounts of money on their pets.

I think its new strain of virus .and the more money you have the more it is virulent .It effects the eyes.Of the Poor unfortunate rich people it produces illusions they see their pets as under privileged .and this virus .Makes the patient pet owner hear pet voices .Like the pet saying I need A new Fur coat for the cold .One dog was heard to say.Can I have a Cat Fur.one? I can chase myself around in to keep warm.As I like to chase Cats I don't like them. The owner is heard to say no. I will get you a real cat Chase the real thing.I wont make you wear your nasty lead I shall shout you naughty dog. If you do nasty things like bit some one .So it is not really the pet owners fault the only cure is get rid of the money .... Lets hope they find a cure for this virus ..PS Has anyone seen my dogs credit Barclaycard

It's an utter disgrace, and it just goes to show what a circus of a world we live in. I've got a lovely dog that came from Battersea dogs home and she is spoilt rotten with love and attention, which is worth a million times more that a diamond collar and Burberry lead.
The owners want putting down.

I'm with you on this one some people just take things way to seriously. dogs a born with fur, they did need anything else other than tlc. I've had three people in my family diagnosed with cancer and it puts stupidity into perspective when that money could be used to save lives.

I work in the pet department at Harrods in central London and its amazing the amount people spend, i had a spanish lady, musta been about 80 and could hardly breathe, spend £1500 on her dogs all on clothing and i cant give names but the personal shopper of a famous rock stars daughter spent £2400 on hers, its amazing what people spend sometimes but i'm not bothered, i get 1% of it :)

agree, i think they do it for shock value and attention.
They got yours !
however, if we want to get into the psychology of this then why doesn't it apply to everything.
For example, why does someone spend £800 on a TV when £200 will do ? Are we to criticise them for not giving the spare £600 away.
Am I wrong for driving a £160,000 car and giving £400,000 to charity. I could drive a £15,000 car and give £545,000 to charity couldn't i ?
Are you going on holiday next year. tut, tut, you could go camping in the UK for a week and give the rest away.
It seems black and white, but when you break it down it becomes more complex as we reach the borders of acceptability.
The 60,000 doesn't disappear, maybe the doggie-clothes shop owner gives it away, who knows ?

You are right! And what's more sickening is that certain famous people 'jump the queue' to get an organ transplant then they go ahead and deliberately wreck that one with their stupid addictions when that organ could have gone to a well deserving person who would have looked after it very well.

Some of these people think these pets are children, its a sickness, I feel a little bit of sympathy for them. Some of them are just obnoxious idiots with more money than sense, and I hate them.

You are looking at this all wrong people teand to treat animals as if they were their childern there fore they spend accordingly as if they were childern or relatives. I think they earned the money so it's nobody's bussiness what they spend it on unless you happen to be one of the relatives waiting for them to die so you can collect you shouldn't even be worried about it. I do agree I could sure think of other ways in which to spend that money like me a winter coat or help the homeless or a multitude of other charties in need oe greed depending on how you look at it.
