It's a grand idea and I support the thought, but it will never happen. Politics is rooted in ideology. Even moderates are ideological in nature, they just do not follow the complete ideologies of the party structures. Those who are political enough to engage in the debate believe their position is the right one. Because we are rooted in ideology attacks against these beliefs will almost always produce visceral results and responses. In short, smear tactics work. The best you can hope for is that at least part of the electorate will be informed and make decisions based on facts rather than emotions. As for the rest, all I can say is voting is a right and while Democracy may not be perfect, it still beats the alternatives.

There are others. I call them string pullers. I have to dance around the answer so as not to offend anyone. So read between the lines. Just follow the money trail!! Nations are wrecked (Throughout Extended History and Throughout the World.) every time these "string pullers" -devide and conquer. What the leaders could do is to stop letting the $$$$ run things behind the scenes. America first!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, it is a shame where the American people have allowed our country to descend to, if the voters do not wake up and stop voting along party lines regardless of the qualifications our country will sink even lower. And i am referring to both parties!

Stop being a pawn, then. Vote. Contact your elected officials. Let them know where you stand on issues - it is the only way they will know how to represent you. Hold them accountable. Write letters to the editor in local newspapers. Call radio stations and tv stations, take action. Get involved. I am no one's pawn, and you don't have to be either.

For once, I agree with you. But until such a time as we have a reasonably moderate Democrat or Republican run, or a viable third-party candidate, it won't ever change.

Great idea. Too late for the mid-terms. Bring it up for 2008. We Republicans have been saying that for years. Thank you.

Yes. I am sick of all the ad campaigns on TV. The democrats haven't yet stated anything about themselves. All they do is say "He voted for Bush so vote for me" That's it. So of course I am going to vote Republican because even the dems are praising Bush in their campaigns.
VOTE REPUBLICAN!
