I can't answer for all Americans... But, I personally like most French people that I've met. My dearest friend, Nicole, is French and I adore her! I think the biggest misconception is that the French are rude and unclean (sorry, if I offend!). But, on the plus side, the language is beautiful and when imagining France, I'm sure many people think of romance, beautiful art, fine wine and good food! It's just a matter of getting to know a different culture and understanding that not all stereotypes are true.

The people of Paris are parasites. The city is dirty, and so are the people. That being said, I lost my virginity to a french girl 9 years older than me. She grew up on a vineyard in Gascony. Francophones in the countryside are generally good, but the urbanites are scum...mostly. Kinda like here in the states too....

I've only been to Paris once in 1988 - the people there weren't nice at all, even when the students tried to speak French. I've been told that Paris is NOT the "norm" for French behavior, though, and that I should try a more rural setting to get to know the "real" people there!

I don't think most have an opinion for or against. There are a few outspoken that don't care for french people much, but they're the ones that get on television. They sell the news better, but hardly represent Americans as a whole.

The generalzation of the French are that they are cowards and rolled over for the Germans in two wars.The Vichey were despicable.
The average Frenchman though is fine.The food is great especially the French country cooking,and I'd love to live in Normandy countryside.

I personally love freance and the people. Yes paris can be overwhelming but over all i love it. However my favorte city is nice. There is way more diversity there that in paris..well to me. But yeah the french guys were so charming and cute, way more the american "hey baby..." lol...
but yeah france rocks and the peoplewere cool. Vive la france!!!!!...Allez B.O.!!!!!! lol Allez Toulouse!!!!

I am from america and for me, I try not to judge anyone based on anything other than who they are as a person. So I guess my answer would be that it would depend on the person, but no, I don't have a broad all-encompassing opinion of an entire group of people.
