In response to naive statements made supporting the bastardized freedom of speech right supported by the aclu - the so called statements are "edited" before printed - some call it "paraphrasing"..- the "edge" is taken off of the harsh ACLU truth and made pallatable so that "intellectuals" can take it , run with it to justify the ACLU position any way they want...the ACLU represents the "other" side is just to throw a "moral bone" to those who really understand what they are up to. The aclu wants for us to beleive that they support morality and the the common man and the prejudice practised against the common man - because the "Almightly Intellectuals in ACLU" who have created their own definition of "intellectual" considers their truth the only truth.."so help them intellectual"

While I agree with the idea behind the ACLU and the initial reason they were established, I disagree with the extreme they take things to. They use scare tactics to get their way and have skewed the meaning of the Bill of Rights to something that it was not meant to mean in the first place.

The ACLU (American Civil Liberities Union) is a watchdog group made up mostly of lawyers who are waiting to take on cases where someone's civil liberties have been violated. They are parasites, but we can't do without them. They are big enough that the government has to listen to them and they are respected in court.

It may be you who needs an ACLU lawyer some day. I know they defend the oddballs.

I admit I would be worried if the ACLU disappeared. It would be another sign in our society that civil liberties no longer mattered and the rights of the individual are no longer respected. It would also be a bad sign that government is winning.

i have a hard time as to whether the aclu is beneficial in its current form. the patriot act, nsa wire tapping and the ten commandments issue and the side they have taken on these issues give cause for concern.are they really defending freedom or undermining the foundation of this country. and it seems to me since around 1972-73 their usefulness has deteriorated. they have gone from protecting the innate rights of human beings to promoting a secular agenda.(seems to me). and i don't think the things they "stand up for" are always in the interest of America. referring to the korean monument in california or the one parent who did not want his daughter reciting the pledge of allegiance. i am sure she was not going to be forced by "the man".
the wants of the few should not outweigh the needs of many. maybe they should review their charter.

the aclu does not support morality, they support freedom, hence the american CIVIL LIBERTIES union. get a clue and quit demonizing the aclu because nutjobs like you would have been thrown in prison for being stupid a long time ago without them.

A tree is known by the fruit it bears.

The American Civil Liberties Union has no interest in "liberty".

Their purpose, as judged by the cases they have taken and the results they have achieved, is to damage the American system of Justice as much as possible, making every case totally unpredictable. The result of this is fear and loathing of lawyers generally, and a feeling that one's well-being is a result of and at the mercy of the government.

There is no liberty in such a result.

The ACLU was created as a legal defense fund for communists. They are as anti-American as you can get.
